Feature of shavian play-

The plot of such comedy has very little dramatic action. The movement of the plot depends upon the long discussions of the exchange of views on any important  aspects of life.

The leading characters are personified ideas. They are more puppets in that hands of the play write without having any life beyond the stage.

In most of  the comedies, Shaw  attacks the romantic nations about such important aspects of life as “love”,marriage, “war”, “social”, position of woman and social snobbery” and so on.

The comedies centre round a conflict the view points. Shaw uses some characters as mouth piece to voice his revoulationary ideas. The clash of ideas that  shows the expression of within the format dialogue which forms the dramatic interest of shaw’s  plays.

Shaw perfectly combines, humour with satire. He himself admits “My way of joking is to tell the truth.” So we find that most of the Shavian plays are highly interesting as they offer different perfectives on conventional concepts.

Shaw’s “arms an the man “ and” man and superman” give expression to his views on “creative evolution” through the excercise of “will power” His other important comedies are ‘Candida’,’Mrs. Warrewnt’s profession,’ and ‘Back to Methusela’.
