How does Shakespeare balanced time-theme in his 116 ?
Ans- In Shakespearean sonnet time-love theme is a recurrent theme in a number of sonnets. Time is a strong reaper who is ever ready to cut the harvest .i.e. beauty and physical strength with his bending sickle. But at the same time true love is that sensier attachment between two pure souls that can easily evade the onslaught of time. True love is not guided by the rules and regulations of time because true love does not follow the dictum of time and the subdivisions of time such as days, weeks, months and years etc. Love does not know even the seasons because it is not a help less slave to time. Love remains ever steady and fixed in a changing world and survives against its assault. While time moves on steadily and minutes, hours, weeks and years roll on continuously, love remains inflexible and unchangeable against it s swept flow and effects of mutability.
Shakespeare idealizes love and places it above time. A true lover does not change his attitude towards his beloved just because curqumantan have changed with the change of time. True love does not allow itself as a day by time. A true lover rises above the vagaries of time. Though time kills youth and beauty, 'love is not times fool its loyalty and fidelity remains unaffected by the swept and continuous flow of time. Infect in the poets bold assertion love remains even 'to the edge of Doom'. Thus love becomes triumphant in the poet's voice and it is turned in solace of life that restores all losses and vitalize all feelings.
